His Royal Majesty Notse Nii Nortey Owuo IV is a distinguished leader whose career uniquely bridges traditional authority, international finance law, economic policy, and academia. Customarily enstooled as the Paramount Chief of the Osu Traditional Area in January 2022, he has since brought dynamic leadership and renewed visibility to the stool, championing key community development initiatives. His exemplary journey in the professional realm is built upon a formidable academic foundation.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Studies from Colby-Sawyer College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. Notse has a distinguished track record in high-level finance and international law. His professional experience includes roles at global institutions such as Credit Suisse; the law firm Lane Powell LLP, where he focused on banking and finance law; and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he specialized in international trade and export controls law.
He further extended his expertise into academia, serving as an adjunct professor at UNC Chapel Hill, teaching in-house practice and trade law.His commitment to public service and fiscal responsibility was evident early in his career, with policy roles at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget and political engagement with the First Budget Initiative in New Hampshire and Iowa. A dedicated civic leader, Notse has served with distinction on several boards. He was appointed by the President of Ghana to the Board of the National Homeownership Fund, where he chairs the Legal Committee. He also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Colby-Sawyer College, making history as the first Black person to hold that position.
His contributions have been recognized through numerous prestigious fellowships and Honours. He is a Resolution Fellow of the United Nations Youth Assembly, an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society, an External Fellow of the YAAPD, and was inducted into the Pro Bono Honour Society by the State of North Carolina. In Ghana, he is a regular speaker at the Institute of Taxation Ghana Annual Summit, which awarded him for his contributions last year. Beyond his professional and traditional duties, HRM Notse Nii Nortey Owuo IV is an avid football enthusiast, supporting Accra Hearts of Oak, Arsenal FC, and his community’s Osu United FC.
